Gradebook Categories
The overall grade you will attain during the class is based on several Categories, each one focusing on a specific learning element to prepare you for working in the world of design. Each of the categories are individually weighted to ensure that students who struggle with one or another category can in fact still make it through the program without failing, assuming that they are at least putting in the time and effort it takes to be successful within the other categories. However, that being said, it is important for you to do each and every assignment to complete all of the Occupational Completion Points for the course, otherwise you risk being dropped from the course (due to failing grades at the end of any given section) or not earning the Program Certificate due to incomplete work showcasing mastery of various subjects.

Portfolio Assignments (Folios, Presentations, Designs, Photos, etc.)
These assignments are designed to showcase your design skills and to showcase your mastery of the software and design techniques required in the job field. These assignments will require you to use the software or hardware, deliver a final design, and publish it on your WordPress Portfolio in order to turn in to the Instructor via email. These assignments will each require: Featured Images (a mockup of the design), Project Details (written explanation of the software and design process used to reach your final product), as well as Project Types, and Project Tags. Points will be taken off for not meeting these requirements. See the Grading Rubric for each of the assignments to see how each project is graded.
Extra Credit Assignments: In each Module there are optional Extra Credit Assignments that are tied to the skill set you are learning in that module. The extra credit points earned are detailed in the Rubric for the assignment and can add a percent (%) of additional points to the Folio assignment for that same module. This can be a total of up to 30% if you get all available extra credit for the assignment. The extra credit needs to be done and turned in by the end of the module in order to be counted.
Tutorials
These tutorial assignments are extremely crucial to your success in this class as it provides 20% of your overall grades, and requires you to actually make multimedia content in order to complete (the very thing that you are here to learn how to do). These assignments are to be published to your WordPress Portfolio as a Post, with a URL to the exact Post to be emailed to the Instructor by the due date along with any other work due for the week. Check out Writing WordPress Posts if you want help on how to write these posts, and check out. For a full detailed breakdown of rubrics and submission requirements read Tutorials: Assignment Guidelines.
Quizzes & Tests
These assignments include weekly quizzes that cover learning objectives within your videos and other assignments for the week they are assigned. This grade also includes the test scores you get on Gmetrix Practice Tests, as well as the final score of Certification Tests as well. Since a large portion of this program focuses on earning Adobe Certifications, this category contains many important assignments.
Video Assignments
LinkedIn Learning Courses are aligned with the Folio Projects and Certification Tests for the weeks they are assigned in, and are also a required part of your Online time. LinkedIn Learning Courses offer a Certificate when the course is completed, which you will need to attach to an email to the Instructor for the grade. These projects are always Completion Only (either 0% or 100%), and no partial credit will be awarded for partially finished video assignments. You can also publish those Certificates to your LinkedIn Profile (not required), to show future employers all of the coursework you have completed.
Job Readiness
Your ability to make it to class (work) on time each day is a requirement with an assigned grade each week under Job Skills. This portion of your grade makes up 20% of the overall grade. These points are not able to be made up if lost. If you know you will be late for class, you are responsible for emailing the Instructor or dropping a notification in TEAMS before class starts, just like you would your boss (like… at work) in a real world job. It is your responsibility to do so each day so that your hours of attendance are properly and accurately recorded. Failure to do so will result in no attendance being awarded.
Points will also be deducted for late work (a.k.a. missing the deadlines). Each assignment that is turned in late loses 10% of the total grade for each day it is late. These points cannot be made up after the fact. If you want to avoid losing points on your assignments, turn them in on time. If you know that you will be missing work ahead of time, immediately talk to the Instructor as soon as possible so that arrangements can be to avoid point loss.
