The DMMD Class uses Microsoft Teams in order to conduct online class time, and as the primary tool for classroom communication.
What you need to do…
You already have TEAMS installed on the computers in the classroom, but you need it installed somewhere that you can access while you are online. My suggestion is to have the app installed on your phone, with notifications turned on so you never miss an important announcement. You should also have it installed on your computers at home.
Step One: Download Microsoft Teams
Download Microsoft Teams by following this link for your own computer (home PC or laptop), the computers in the classroom have the software pre-loaded, so no worries there. Once it is downloaded and installed, you will be able to sign in and set up your webcam, microphones, etc.
You should also install the Microsoft Teams App on your phone, to get notifications when information about the class is shared with the team. Nothing like a notification on your phone so that you don’t have to say “Oh, I didn’t get that message.”
Step Two: Sign into Microsoft Teams
You will need to us your Student Email in order to sign in properly, and access the classroom Team to join any meetings with your classmates and Instructor.

Your Username…
Your student email is what you need to use in order to log into TEAMS and access the class group. If you log in with your own personal email or phone number, you will not be part of the correct group. The Username will be your STUDENTNUMBER@my.browardschools.com. Your Student Number should be on your Registration paperwork, but is also available to you via your Focus gradebook. If you cannot find your student number, contact Instructor for assistance, he is around here somewhere.
PLEASE NOTE: Your Student Number should always start with a ZERO. If yours does not, you will simply add a 0 in front of the number. Example, if your Student Number is shown as 612345678, then in the email you would make it 0612345678 by simply adding a zero to the front.
Your Password…
Your Password will be PMM/DD/YYYY, where the characters represent the digits of your birth date. For example, if you were born on January 10th, 1776 (you would be very, very old) but your Password would be P01/10/1776. The password does include the capital letter “P” and the forward slash characters “/”. If you have had your password CHANGED by the Instructor, use that password instead!
Accessing our TEAM
On the left side of the app, you will see a stack of icons like Activity, Chat and Teams. Click on TEAMS. This is the home base for the classroom to quickly and easily jump into the daily meetings with the Instructor. You can see in the screenshot below that I have 5 Teams. I will click into the correct Team, and access all information for that specific group.

Once you are in the Team, you should see along the top section labeled Posts, Files, Notebook, etc. Pictured below, I can see the Posts that are relevant to the Team. If an Online Class Meeting is active, a colorful brick will appear, with a button that will allow you to join that meeting.

Helpful Video
If you are brand new to Microsoft Teams, the video above may be very helpful. He will cover how to get the app, set it up, and use it… and even offer some advanced tips. It’s worth a watch if you are stuck! I do apologize however that the demo is being done on a MAC… a choice I don’t recommend.
